You know how alot of ex-NFL players after they reach 50 can barely walk or maybe younger. It seems that the toll on the body of the NFL players can be devastating later on. Will MMA fighters experience the same thing? Could a person expect to have 30 MMA fights and be a healthy individual afterward? Is fighting MMA like playing russian roulete with your health?

There is no definite answer. It depends on what injuries you sustain. But overall the effect cannot be worse than boxing. In boxing you get hit in the head many many times. You get knocked down, you get up and get hit in the head even more.

In MMA there are many other ways to win the fight. You don’t get hit in the head nearly as much and there are no knockdowns. As soon as you’re knocked down, if you cannot defend yourself, the fight is over. So you’re not subjected to too much of a punishment.

Of course it doesn’t mean that you cannot have problems later on in life.

If someone attends a division 1 college and doesn’t play any sports for the entire time they are there as an undergrad. Can they decide to go to graduate school somewhere else and tryout for the baseball team? Also how many years of eligibility would you have to play as a graduate student if you didn’t play at all as an undergrad? What are the NCAA rules here?

Graduate students are eligible to participate in NCAA sports, at least if they started playing as an undergrad. Not sure about starting as a grad student.

In Division I, there is a 24 year-old age limit, so your eligibility would expire the year you turn 25.. In the other divisions, there is no limit, so you could have up to four years of eligibility as long as the course requirements were met.

Now that post season baseball is upon us, I’m curious approximately how much extra money the owner of a MLB baseball team makes by advancing (and winning) the World Series. Thanks!

This is a very, very difficult question to answer. It depends on so many factors that it is hard to really pin down.

1) It depends on the number of games played in each round.
2) It depends on the TV ratings.
3) It depends on the market/stadium the team plays in, and also those of the teams it plays against.

If a team plays the maximum number of games in a mid-to-larger sized market, a team can expect somewhere between $18-20 million in total revenue for the entire playoffs. If the minimum number of games are played (all series sweeps) in smaller markets, the number could be closer to $7-8 million for total playoff revenue.

This does not take into consideration the increased revenue from merhcandise sales or promotional revenue the team receives from a greater amount of exposure if the team is new to postseason success. In this regard, the Rockies and the Diamondbacks stand to gain the most from a World Series appearance.

A team does not receive additional revenue for winning the World Series. TV (ad sales) and ticket sales revenue is divided evenly between the teams. The players bonuses are higher for winning the World Series, but even then the numbers are $20,000 for the winners vs. $18,000 for the runners-up. That difference is harly worth mentioning considering the annual salaries of even the lowest paid baseball players.

A further complication is that these teams often see renewed interest in their teams during the following year after reaching the World Series, which leads to more season ticket sales, more merchandising sales, and higher ad revenue. This is very difficult to calculate.

A very, very rough estimate is that each game is worth about $800,000-$1,000,000 to each team.

I searched using yahoo and I couldn’t find the answer to this. Does anyone know if an NBA team has ever had a bad start (the first few months of the season) but still pulled off a championship?

You guessed it my team is really bad right now (so far) but there is a chemistry problem that I hope will be resolved soon.

the 2005-2006 Heat team started the Season with a 9-6 record at the end of Nov. but they still managed to win the championship with the help from David Stern.

Will a 12v battery advertised for a golf caddy work in a golf cart?

I don’t know anything about golf carts, but have just acquired one and need to power its 48v system. Golf caddy batteries look like just 12v deep cycle batteries so I don’t see why I can’t use four of them to power a golf cart. Any extra advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sure that you have 6 – 8 volt batteries. If you look you should be able to get them for about 100 dollars per and install them yourself.

You will have issues trying to reinvent the wheel by changing style of batteries – mounting for instance etc etc

You might save 200 dollars but is it worth the trouble – doubtful

Look for a trojan battery dealer or a local golf cart dealership and get the right thing and your cart will run like brand new
